　This is the special feature article of Los Lonely Boys carried in the Japanese magazine "MUSIC MAGAZINE" February, 2005 .Of course, in the magazine, this is all written in Japanese.Then, I tried to translate this into English, because I would like to tell how they were introduced in Japan.

Los Lonely Boys
They are Tejano new generations who roll and eat various music by tortilla.

　"They are Tejano who born and grew up in Texas. their nationality may be different.,but the bottom is the same young man. Let's make customary Fiesta a weekend, eating hamburgers and tacos! Music is spice and air. They invited lovely girls there. Anyway, the spot rises in the beginning. Spanish is made for their blood to be excited. Night goes on rising. Soon, the boy and girl who were kindred spirits bring near each other's shoulder, go into a ballade and go…."
　This is the concept of 12 music in their album. It became perfect in the last music "La Contestacion"….
　This is one sentence written immediately, after I finished listening to the first album of Los Lonely Boys. And this was carried by the recommendation comment collection for sale of Epic. Probably, we should not show people it essentially, since this is the text which breaks off too much.
　However, I was required for this time as write a point of contact with the backbone of their music, a family line, Tejano music, and the public music of Mexico over the border etc, and I thought that I did not need to correct my impression in the beginning at all after listening to it repeatedly, and I decided to dare quote it. Originally, if I present their music name, it will be "Heaven" nominated for Grammy Award 2 section (The album of a self title itself was nominated for 4 sections of the Grammy Award.), however, it was a private comment, so, I presented "La Contestacion" from the result. Well, at least the example will be the object data that the expectation for them is very high.
　You would know that 7 sections are prepared in the Grammy Award for Latin music. Los Lonely Boys was not nominated for the Latin section. A Tejano album section and a rock Latino section are also in that, so that Originally, it is not probably wrong even if they are nominated for them.There is some music songs in Spanish in their album, and "Heaven" begins from a shout called "Vanomos" which is the Spanish of Mexico and Central America. Because the Spanish of the Caribbean Sea is the pronunciation for which "s" of that disappears completely, they do self-expression of coming out Cikanoes and Tejanos unconsciously. First song "Senorita" in their album is the one which made Spanish intermingled into English.

When they are considered, it is very new that the first album of Los Lonely Boys was put on the market early although it was late from the United States abbreviation half a year. As for "our dreams or hopes" which Santana said, something is not shown concretely , but It will be clear to have collected the Latin culture which serves as common sense in the American society, expansion of Cikano or Hispanic citizenship, maturity of their culture.
　In the time when Richie Valens came out, they could not but sing by English words, except for his song " La Bamba", however, the time changed. Los Lonely Boys is enjoying the predominancy as bilingual.That is, their self title album corresponds to the situation of having come out as local CD of Texas in the beginning. It is as being in the comment which I described in this beginning, and is because the Fiesta of a weekend which was in their living environment was made to the concept. It was the plan tried as a method of selling to local Tejano more as local version.
　Tejano artists have been making the album which made English and Spanish intermingled for some time. My favorite Tejano is Rick Trebino (He may be working even now, but I am not hearing his news recently.) He produced the album which made two languages go back and forth very smoothly, using Country & western, Bluegrass, and Nortejo.He must have been expected as a Latin leading newcomer of Epic. Gerald of rap/spanglish(who was the center of attention even in Japan temporarily) was also a artist of talent.
　The reasons local CD of Los Lonely Boys carried out self-multiplication to the United States are certain that it is the expansion of Cikano society and there is a social background of rapid increase of Hispanic population. People who accept only an English song also listened to their music that is like Richie's rock of former years was reproduced, the"gentle" rock , the rock with passion which appeared suddenly in the time of the the hiphop height of prosperity, people heard revival of the music forgotten for a long time. And probably, their song became a United States hit.

The generation newer than Los Lobos.

　Henry who is three brothers' eldest son says.
　"People always ask us what kind of style we play. I tell 'em it's a cross between Stevie Ray meets Santana, Jimi Hendrix meets Richie Valens, or the Beatles meet Ronnie Milsap. " Henry said, and of course, it is the Richie version "La Bamba" which arranged at light musicby Tony Lopes .Los Lonely Boys played the "La Bamba" with Santana in the award ceremony of the Latin Grammy Award last year ('04).

They have each history, however, it seems that there is no margin in space in order to explain them for me. In the satellite broadcasting, various music other than the rock or the pops can be listened to. And the music TV has main video Cripps. I heard that Los Lonely Boys often watch and listen to them.
　"More Than Love", this video clip is made by the method of just Grupela or Nortejo.It is the image which does not get refined, like the cry of cows are to be heard from a pasture. People who watched such a video clip for the first time will feel it cheap. It isn't so gorgeous like Lewis Miguel, and is not pop using computer graphics mostly like Taria, either. However, Tejano and Mexican are pleased with it. The video clip is made such intentionally. I think that it's Probably their essence. Also in "Heaven" nominated for the Grammy Award, they have sung in the cloister which put the Saint (Sant) images that Iberia catholicism is thick.

　 Anyhow, there is a limit to tell you Los Lonely Boys music by means of words. Although I will suggest to you, you had better actually listen to their music.You may long for The Eagles or "Donna" by Richie, or impress Henry's guitar which makes it bear a close resemblance to Santana. That is, their music has the special feature that sound is new, though there is nostalgia. The "newness" does not have unnaturally at all, and produced from the good orthodox approach of a family line.
